Galatians 6:7 - Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps
what he sows.
Planting season is
quickly coming our way. This spring many
farmers will be planting corn, beans, wheat, or any number of other crops. Many of us will also be planting gardens,
whether we are farmers or not. And
everyone who plants looks forward to the harvest that comes later in the year.
When you plant
something, what do you expect to harvest?
I don’t know about you, but I would be surprised if a farmer who planted
corn in his fields began cursing once harvest started because he was expecting
beans. The simple reality is, whatever
you plant into the ground is the crop you will harvest that year.
Is this not also true
in our spiritual lives? Whatever seeds
we plant, whether they are seeds of kindness or selfishness, those are what we
will harvest. Whatever we choose to
invest ourselves in, those are what will grow to fruition. If we decide to dedicate the “fields” of our
life to kindness and love towards others and towards God, that is what we will
harvest. And if we don’t, then whatever
else we’ve chosen to dedicate our lives to, that is what we will harvest. So this season let me ask you, in the fields
of your life, what are you growing for the coming harvest?
