Announcements for January 5th, 2014

This coming Sunday we'll be back in Colossians, and we'll take a look at how the early church in Colossae struggled with Legalism and all kinds of crazy beliefs that were floating around.

Our Angeltree Project was a huge success this year!  We were able to join with the Ministerial Alliance and the School District to serve 31 families in need.  We also chose to donate an extra 400 dollars to help put food on the table for needy kids this Christmas Holiday.  You'd be surprised at how many of them don't have much to eat if they can't get their school lunches.

Next Sunday is our Monthly Board Meeting after church.  The next day we'll have our Leadership Team Meeting at 6:00pm.

Here at the First Christian Church we hope you've had a wonderful Holiday Season.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Announcements for November 17th

This coming Sunday we'll be back in Colossians, and we'll ask the question, why chose Jesus Christ?  Why would the early Christians in Colossae be willing to risk as much as they did to follow Jesus?  Why should we follow Jesus ourselves?  And I'll also answer my question from the end of last week, about why I think the Christian Faith, when it is lived out, naturally evades narrow-mindedness and arrogance that is all too common in the world today.

We have begun our food drive for Angel Tree this week!  Please start bringing in your food donations.  We also have a weight scale to weigh how much we have; let's see if we can get that 50 pound weight up into the air this year, shall we?

This coming Sunday the 17th is the Dedication of Gifts Sunday.  Come and give to meet the needs of the Church, and stick around after church and enjoy a dinner with us!

Next week we will have our Bible Study, on Thursday Nov 21.  We will be meeting for dinner at 5:30, then we'll dig into the scriptures under the guidance of Max Lucado's 3:16 Bible Study Series.  Free Childcare is provided from the time dinner is over until 7:00.

You Reap What You Sow

This is the Article for the April Newsletter

Galatians 6:7 - Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

Planting season is quickly coming our way.  This spring many farmers will be planting corn, beans, wheat, or any number of other crops.  Many of us will also be planting gardens, whether we are farmers or not.  And everyone who plants looks forward to the harvest that comes later in the year.

When you plant something, what do you expect to harvest?  I don’t know about you, but I would be surprised if a farmer who planted corn in his fields began cursing once harvest started because he was expecting beans.  The simple reality is, whatever you plant into the ground is the crop you will harvest that year.

Is this not also true in our spiritual lives?  Whatever seeds we plant, whether they are seeds of kindness or selfishness, those are what we will harvest.  Whatever we choose to invest ourselves in, those are what will grow to fruition.  If we decide to dedicate the “fields” of our life to kindness and love towards others and towards God, that is what we will harvest.  And if we don’t, then whatever else we’ve chosen to dedicate our lives to, that is what we will harvest.  So this season let me ask you, in the fields of your life, what are you growing for the coming harvest?
